Transparency Needed for Musgrave Park during Paniyiri Greek Festival

In a recent letter to Premier Steven Miles, Amy MacMahon, Greens MP for South Brisbane, raised concerns about the upcoming Paniyiri Greek Festival and its impact on Musgrave Park.

The details surrounding the festival's use of the park remain unclear, including the duration and extent of any fencing, as well as plans to accommodate the park's current residents, many of whom are considered vulnerable members of the community.

This lack of transparency is concerning, particularly given last year's experience where the council and festival organizers withheld information regarding permits and park usage plans. Musgrave Park is a public space that serves as home to over 40 individuals, and their needs must be a priority.

Therefore, I urge Brisbane City Council, Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner, and The Greek Club to openly communicate their plans for the park during the festival. Collaborative efforts with residents and organizations are crucial to ensure suitable arrangements are made for everyone involved.
