Rusty's Rebound Hit a Snag:
Remember Rusty, the adorable pup whose owner recently secured housing? Unfortunately, Rusty seems to have injured himself while exploring his new digs. His owner noticed him favouring a leg, but upon examination, he didn't show any discomfort when his leg was gently touched or moved. While this is a positive sign, his refusal to put weight on his back leg is concerning. Given the time, we advised waiting until morning to see if the issue resolves itself.
Finding Help for a Furry Friend:
This situation highlights a challenge for newly housed individuals with pets – accessing veterinary care. Rusty's owner, having just moved in with limited resources, needs assistance finding a vet willing to work with someone in their financial situation.
Do any of our followers have recommendations for vets who might be able to help?
Limited Availability for Calls:
Due to a packed work schedule tomorrow, I'll have limited time to make calls. If anyone has the capacity to help Rusty's owner by offering guidance, transport, or connecting them with vet resources, please reach out!  She's located in West End.
Sweet Treats for the Community:
On a brighter note, Coles donated a massive amount of ice cream – five boxes of mixed treats! We rushed these home to distribute before they melted, with the remainder finding a cool haven in the Community Plus+ West End Community House pantry freezer. A delicious surprise for future visitors!
Farewell to Mina's Free Shop:
With a bittersweet farewell, Mina has closed her East Brisbane Free Shop. For countless hours, Mina dedicated herself to helping up to 30 people daily. The impact she made on the community is undeniable. Mina, we're incredibly proud of you and your tireless efforts!
A Quiet Evening, But Impactful Connections:
Overall, the night was relatively quiet, punctuated by check-ins, conversations, and the distribution of a couple of donated phones that brought smiles to grateful recipients.
Together, We Can Make a Difference!
By supporting each other, connecting resources, and offering a helping hand, we can continue to uplift our community, both human and furry!
