The Lions Club of Brisbane Inner North invited me to speak about our work. It was a pleasure to connect with their members, answer their questions, and share our mission over dinner at Kedron Wavell. Thank you to Karen for the invitation!
The Power of Local Business Support:
Bridgestone Keperra has been a steadfast supporter of our charity since day one. Today, during my van's routine service, Garth surprised me by covering the entire cost! While I don't take any personal funds from the charity, their generosity towards the wear and tear of our essential vehicle is deeply appreciated. A huge thank you to Garth and the entire Bridgestone Keperra team!
Stocking the Pantry and Connecting with Residents:
A massive 100kg food collection from Coles ensured our pantries are well-stocked for those in need.
At Musgrave Park, I checked in with Carla to ensure she was taking her medication. While there, I joined a group of men enjoying a chat and offered them a drink. Despite not being a drinker myself, I sat and shared a conversation about my recent meeting and other topics. It's these moments of connection that build trust and understanding.
Collaboration and New Challenges:
Another person seeking a tent was successfully diverted to Micah Projects for temporary housing. We'll be following up with Micah tomorrow to ensure their situation is addressed.
The Brisbane City Council has flagged six tents for removal on Thursday. We'll need to assess these situations tomorrow night.
The Importance of Rest:
It's been a long day, and a good night's sleep is crucial before diving back in tomorrow.
