Community Collaboration and a Touch of Domino's Kindness: Updates and Exciting News!

Pantry Power Up!

Big thanks to the Brunswick Hotel for their fantastic new pantry cabinet – it's so much bigger than before! This will ensure the Brunswick Street Pantry is even better stocked for those in need.

Similarly, Max Chandler-Mather, Federal MP for Griffith's pantry cabinet needed some TLC. Thanks to Facebook Marketplace and the generosity of a kind soul, we now have sturdy new shelving in place. This lovely individual, touched by our work, even offered to reimburse me for the purchase and get involved in our efforts! While I happily used my own funds for this upgrade, community support like hers is truly inspiring. Let's all remember, "community helping community" is a powerful principle.

Max Chandler-Mather's Ongoing Support

It's important to clarify that Max Chandler-Mather's office already makes significant contributions to the pantry. They not only allocate space for it, but also cover the cost of restocking it twice a week. Additionally, Max himself uses personal funds to host multiple community BBQs each week, including the Monday night gathering at Musgrave Park. Their dedication to supporting the community is deeply appreciated.

Connecting with a New Face

Following up on a previous post about a pantry contact, I met a gentleman experiencing homelessness for the first time. After a conversation at Community Plus+ West End Community House, we decided Musgrave Park would be a suitable location for him. While initially nervous, he was able to find a spot with my guidance.

Collaboration is Key

As we were leaving to get a tent, the Micah Projects' Street To Home team arrived, searching for someone in the park. This serendipitous encounter allowed me to connect them with our new friend. While the commotion might have been overwhelming at first, the Micah Projects team offered a safe haven for the night at a local shelter. This allowed him to return to the park feeling calmer tomorrow to set up his tent. A huge thank you to the Micah Projects team for their support and collaboration!

A Slice of Kindness

We're thrilled to announce a new partnership with Domino's Pizza Arana Hills! They've generously offered to donate a significant number of pizzas each month to our charity. To kick things off, we'll be picking up 30 pizzas this Sunday and distributing them to individuals experiencing homelessness across Brisbane. This is a fantastic opportunity to not only fill bellies but also bring smiles to faces. A heartfelt thank you to the Arana Hills Domino's team for their compassion!

Together, we can make a difference!
