A Night of Tents, Teamwork, and Tireless Support: A Northwest Community Group Update

A Busy Evening Begins:

Following my first productive general business meeting with the Lions Club Samford QLD, I dashed off to Musgrave Park, arriving at 8:30 pm to relieve Nick Powell, who graciously covered the stand earlier.

Unexpected Demand:

Upon arrival, I was greeted by a group of four individuals in need of tents – two couples and two singles. Fortunately, thanks to the ever-supportive team at BCF Keperra who offered a generous discount, I had just purchased two new tents earlier that day.

Pitching in the Dark:

The night offered a double challenge – erecting tents at night and navigating unfamiliar models. With perseverance, I managed to set up the first tent, followed by two additional tents I'd used previously. Fun fact: each tent requires roughly 15 pegs, and by the time I finished, my legs were begging for rest! (Nighttime photography can be deceiving – the photos don't quite capture just how dark it was!)

Trying Out New Gear:

Seeking to enhance comfort, I tested a new rechargeable fan (with a built-in light!) from BCF, priced at $37 – a promising addition to our supplies.

The Need Continues:

While setting up the tents, two more individuals approached, seeking shelter. Heartbroken to see them sleeping on benches, I promised to secure tents for them the following day.

Deliveries and Gratitude:

Before heading home (finally!) by 11 pm, I delivered a generous donation of cabbages and bread to the

pantry.

Celebrating Charity Status and Looking Ahead:

This late but fulfilling night perfectly embodies the spirit of Northwest Community Group. We're incredibly proud of the number of individuals we're able to assist on a daily basis, and we're excited to continue growing our impact with your continued support. A special thank you to everyone who likes and comments on our posts – your encouragement fuels our mission!
