A Bountiful Coles Run & Musgrave Park Update:
Tonight began with a productive Coles run, yielding a significant amount of bread and fresh produce from Ferny Grove. Our first stop was Musgrave Park, where we encountered a tent previously assigned to an individual who had seemingly moved on. After confirming this and receiving no response via phone calls, we intended to reclaim and reuse the tent. However, another individual expressed interest, so we were happy to offer it to them, along with a sleeping bag and essential food supplies.
Changing Landscape at Kurilpa Point Park:
Our next stop, Kurilpa Point Park, unveiled a significant decrease in the number of tents. While we'd hope this indicates successful housing placements, concerns were raised. Several individuals independently reported feeling pressured to leave by the council. While the desire to address homelessness is clear, the current approach appears to prioritize dispersing tent encampments rather than offering sustainable solutions. Northwest Community Group prioritizes responsible tent distribution in designated areas at Musgrave Park, working collaboratively with Brisbane City Council.
A Helping Hand for a Man Experiencing Gout:
While walking along the river, we encountered a gentleman with a painful gout attack. Recognizing the symptoms from personal experience, we offered assistance. Unable to reach an urgent care clinic due to exhaustion, we contacted Dr. Juergen, a regular volunteer at Emmanuel's Friday clinic. His generosity went above and beyond – diagnosing the condition remotely, prescribing medication, and covering the cost. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Juergen! After delivering the medication, water (crucial for gout management), and discussing potential relocation to Musgrave Park, we left the gentleman feeling more supported.

Pantry Deliveries & Progress Update:
Following this encounter, we delivered food donations to pantries at Community Plus+ West End Community House, Max Chandler-Mather's office, Community Plus+ Yeronga Community Centre, and the Brunswick Hotel.

Organizational Advancement:
On a positive note, a successful committee meeting facilitated the adoption of our conflict of interest policy, the final hurdle for our ACNC charity application. The application has now been submitted, and we anticipate a response within two weeks.
Time for Rest:
A packed day calls for a good night's sleep. Thank you for your continued support as we navigate the complexities of homelessness and strive to make a positive impact on our community.
