Today was a rollercoaster of emotions, highlighting the complex challenges and heartwarming moments encountered while supporting Brisbane's homeless community.
Community Support Makes a Difference:
A huge thank you to Kim Liddell for her incredible donation of bed packs, chairs, and other essential items. These well-made supplies provide comfort and dignity to those living in tents.

Checking In and Moving Forward:
The visit to Wickham Park began with helping a woman inflate her air mattress. It's a constant struggle for many to maintain their belongings, as evidenced by the park's sign regarding unattended items.

Scott, another resident, expressed a desire to move due to theft and conflict. He received a new tent and hopes for a safer environment. Additionally, Scott's commitment to mental health advocacy through his Black Dog Institute fundraiser is truly inspiring.
A Moment of Crisis and a Path to Help:
The most concerning situation involved a woman contemplating self-harm after her partner left. After multiple calls and reassurance, she agreed to seek help at the hospital. The opportunity for her to see her young son provided a much-needed connection and grounded her during this emotional crisis. Hospital staff were notified to ensure her continued well-being.
Uplifting a Fellow Supporter:
Helping a man upgrade his tent and providing him with essential furniture brought a smile to his face. His positive attitude and potential for securing housing with the Department of Housing are encouraging.
Community Pantries Replenished:
Thanks to generous donations, all the community pantries were restocked, ensuring continued access to vital food supplies.
A Heartfelt Thank You:
The outpouring of support from our community allows us to directly impact lives. Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference. Together, we are saving lives and offering hope to those in need.
