Today, NWCG volunteer Nick was joined by his brother Liam for a first hand look at the organization's work supporting Brisbane's homeless community.

Delivering a Helping Hand:
Armed with donated meals from Paul's house and a hamper from the Ferny Grove Tavern pantry, Nick and Liam delivered essential items to a woman facing hardship. These everyday essentials like kitchen and bathroom supplies can make a big difference in managing household needs.
Responding to Urgent Need:
A call from a distressed couple in desperate need of shelter put teamwork to the test. Nick and Liam's car became a game of Tetris as they rearranged groceries to accommodate the couple, their luggage, and their furry companion, Nugget the dog. The NWCG team is happy to help wherever possible, and Nugget received a warm welcome.
Community Spirit at Musgrave Park:
Upon arrival at Musgrave Park, the couple was reunited with an old friend who generously offered them shelter in his tent. This heartwarming display of community spirit and mutual respect is a hallmark of Musgrave Park.
Remembering Barry:
A somber mood hung over the park as news of Barry's passing circulated. A vigil had been held in his memory, a testament to the impact he had on those who knew him.
The Power of Education and Inspiration:
Despite the threat of rain, Orange Sky Australia was present, offering their mobile shower facilities. Two university students were also on-site, conducting research for an assignment on how to improve the gaps in local homeless services. Nick's own journey with NWCG began similarly, and their enthusiasm for helping others was inspiring.
Liam's Experience:
Nick expressed his gratitude for Liam's opportunity to witness the acts of community support first hand. Having an extra pair of hands also helped streamline the day's deliveries.
Restocking Pantries Across Brisbane:
The usual suspects – Community Plus+ West End Community House, Max Chandler-Mather MP's office, Brunswick Street Pantry, and Community Plus+ Yeronga Community Centre – all received pantry restocks.
Adapting to Meet Needs:
A sign at Picabeen Community Centre indicated perishable items were no longer accepted. The remaining bread from Friday was redirected to the Dawson Parade, Keperra pantry, which appeared newly installed on a resident's fence – a testament to the community's resourceful spirit.
Signing Off:
With another successful day of community support complete, Nick bid farewell for the night.
