Running Low on Tents
We had a successful outreach stand today alongside The Greens, but unfortunately, I've run out of tents. To help meet this critical need, I've created a separate post outlining how you can donate tents. Please check our pinned post on our FB page for details https://www.facebook.com/nwcommunitygroup.
A New Beginning for One
There was some fantastic news today! A resident at Musgrave Park was offered a permanent home – the first in a while! I connected him with Next Step Connect, a program that offers ongoing support as he transitions into his new home.
Volunteers Make a Difference
Huge thanks to Di and Rusty for volunteering today! Rusty even brought a family member visiting from the US who was eager to help at the stand. Seeing someone dedicate vacation time to this cause is truly inspiring.
A Look at the Numbers
Tonight, 40 tents stand at Musgrave Park, with 38 of them raised by myself. It's a bittersweet accomplishment. We're proud to help so many, but heartbroken by the number of people needing housing.
The Reality of Street Life
Each person at Musgrave has a story and has faced trauma. Their nightly stay in the park is a constant test of resilience. I've attached a text exchange between two residents that highlights the challenges they face.
Looking Ahead: Food & Bubble & Squeak
We're thrilled to announce that Stone & Brew has generously offered to donate pizzas for the residents every Tuesday! We'll pick them up and deliver them through Rosies – Friends On The Street. This collaboration between local businesses is heartwarming!
Don't Forget Bubble & Squeak!
A reminder that Bubble & Squeak, another program I run with amazing volunteers, is now taking bookings. See our page for details and spread the word!
Thank you!
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this cause. Your support makes a real difference in the lives of those experiencing homelessness.
